This week, we opened the Promise Academy, an innovative program that supports the "whole" child through rigorous instruction and essential behavioral, social, and emotional support. Together with families and communities, we're championing inclusivity for every student.
🌱 Last week, Dr. Janice Mixon’s 6th graders at Dunbar Magnet Middle School welcomed author Lana Williams, a Little Rock native and owner of the Tender Gardener! 🌼 She shared container gardening tips, focusing on potting techniques and plant selection. Sixteen students also won autographed copies of her book, The Container Garden Recipe Book! ✨
🎀 Give Cancer the Boot Day! 🎀 In honor of a beloved staff member at Carver STEAM Magnet Elementary School, students, staff, and friends from Dr. Marian G Lacey K-8 Academy & Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership and Language Magnet Academy wore pink to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Parkview Arts/Science Magnet High School Senior Akasha Morris has been accepted to the prestigious Perry Initiative Workshop at UAMS! This amazing opportunity connected her with women surgeons and engineers, offering hands-on surgery modules and mentorship. We’re so proud of her!

Today, students from J. A. Fair K-8 Preparatory Schoo, Pulaski Heights Middle School, and Forest Heights STEM Academy had an opportunity to participate in the 67th Commemoration of the Little Rock Nine at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts. This special event featured Keith Beauchamp, acclaimed producer of Till and director of The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till.
