Word wizards at Little Rock Central High School clinched Arkansas’ top spot in Vocabulary.com’s Fall 2024 Vocabulary Bowl, mastering 12,884 words and placing first in the state for the second consecutive season.
Hailed as the largest academic competition for vocabulary learning, the fall Vocabulary Bowl saw more than 175,000 students and 5,600 educators across 1,800 schools in 75 countries competing in various divisions and categories.
The bowl runs for two seasons each year, with the fall competition stretching from Oct. 1 through Nov. 30, while the spring bowl is from Feb. 1 through March 31. Students or teachers can complete vocabulary activities throughout the contest period to amass words for their schools.
Central High also took home the state’s trophy last spring with a score of 9,073 words.
