Hot Springs, AR — Watson Elementary School is celebrating a remarkable achievement by its gifted teacher, Charlotte Bomar, who recently received two prestigious awards at the Arkansans for Gifted and Talented Education (AGATE) Conference held on March 5, 2025, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Bomar was honored with the highest distinction of AGATE Educator of the Year, recognizing her exceptional service and unwavering advocacy for the gifted students of Watson Elementary. This award highlights her dedication, innovative teaching strategies, and profound impact on the academic and personal growth of her students.
In addition to this significant recognition, Bomar also received the Curriculum Award for her outstanding design and implementation of the unit titled "Thrills and Chills: The Art and Science of Amusement Parks." This engaging and creative curriculum not only captivated her students but also led them to achieve top prizes at the Arkansas State Fair. The unit exemplified Bomar's commitment to hands-on, experiential learning that challenges and inspires her students.
With many years of teaching experience in the Little Rock School District, Bomar has served as the Gifted and Talented (GT) teacher at Watson Elementary for the past two years. Her passion for education and her ability to create meaningful learning experiences have made a lasting impression on her students and colleagues alike.
