Watson Elementary recently celebrated Grandparents' Day with a well-attended event that highlighted the special bond between students and their grandparents. The day began with a warm welcome from student speakers Emani Hall and Zamarian Robinson, who also delivered a heartfelt reading to honor the important role grandparents play in children’s lives.
The Watson Eagle Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Jeffery Parker, added a musical touch to the event with special selections that delighted the audience. Excitement grew as prizes were awarded, including recognition for the oldest grandparent, the grandparent with the most grandchildren attending Watson, and the one who traveled the farthest—a proud visitor from Bartlett, Tennessee.
After the program, grandparents participated in three activity rotations: taking pictures with their grandchildren, creating crafts together, and exploring the Book Fair.
Principal Christopher Jackson emphasized the significance of events like these, saying, "Bringing the community into the school is important. It allows them to see the hard work our students and teachers are putting forth daily."
