The hard work of students and staff has paid off in a major financial way for several Little Rock School District (LRSD) schools, earning them hundreds of thousands of dollars in the Arkansas School Recognition Program. The program celebrates schools that achieve high student performance and growth, providing them with cash awards. Of the $6,999,874 distributed to schools statewide for the 2023-24 school year, LRSD’s share was $331,065.70.
The Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) rewards public schools in the top 10% for high student performance, academic growth, and, for secondary schools, high graduation rates. Schools in the top 5% receive awards of up to $100 per student, while those in the top 6%-10% are awarded up to $50 per student.
Four LRSD schools received recognition for their exceptional achievements:
Forest Park Elementary
Top 5% Performance - $34,839.54
Top 5% Growth - $34,839.54
Jefferson Elementary
Top 5% Performance - $36,457.77

Roberts Elementary

Top 6%-10% Growth - $48,732.16

Distribution and use of the funds are determined by school committees consisting of the principal, a teacher, and a parent representative. The committees will decide how best to utilize the awards to continue enhancing student achievement and success.
Congratulations to the students, staff, and families of Forest Park, Jefferson, Roberts, and Wakefield Elementary Schools on these remarkable achievements! These awards reflect the dedication and hard work within LRSD schools, and we look forward to seeing even more LRSD campuses recognized in the future!
