Next week is Read Across America Week, and we are celebrating! Every day, there will be trivia questions and contests. Plus, we can show our school and reading spirit by participating in dress-up days! Monday, we will celebrate being able to read the room, literally! Students should wear something with words on it that they and other students can read. It can be as simple as a logo or as complicated as a homemade shirt with their favorite book quote on it. See the flyer for more information about all the other days. Join us in the fun!

The Chicot Reading Challenge is in full swing. During the first week of the challenge, we had 12 students who met their reading goal. This week we had 36 students meet their goal! That is 3 times as many students meeting their goal and many more getting super close! That is some fantastic growth. Educational research is very clear. The ability to read and comprehend is the most powerful indicator of potential for success in school and beyond! Let's see if we can get even more students to meet their reading goals next week! A little ice can't keep a Chicot Cheetah from reading. Students have 3 ways to share their reading with me and earn prizes. Students can log into their classlink and read on myON. myON minutes are automatically shared with the school. Students can read at home and complete their reading calendar log. At the end of the month, they get 1 small prize for every week that they read 15 minutes a day. The last method is to create a Beanstack account and log reading there. If you create a Beanstack account, those minutes will not be shared with the school automatically. The Central Arkansas Library System and Beanstack will send a report to the school and I can give prizes for Beanstack minutes once I get that report. Here are some links that may help with tracking your reading. Students can access myON after logging in at this link. https://shorturl.at/q3IqP . Students can create or log into a Beanstack account at this link. https://cals.beanstack.org/reader365
