Chicot scholars and staff enjoyed a thrilling visit featuring the award-winning author and illustrator, Vanessa Brantley-Newton! 🎨📖
Ms. Brantley-Newton is known for her vibrant illustrations and captivating stories. She delivered! Scholars enjoyed assemblies, art workshops, and a writing workshop to learn about her works and how they too are authors and illustrators. A wonderful message about the importance of seeing yourself, being yourself, and celebrating our unique talents and gifts resonated with all!
Many scholars received books, signed by Ms. Brantley-Newton, and we even have a collaborative art project inspired by Ms. Brantley-Newton on display with her original works at Pyramid Art, Books, and Custom Framing. We have so many wonderful things happening at Chicot!

Tomorrow morning, we are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a student-centered program, a parade, and some music! Come on out and join us from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Remember, if you want your child to participate in the parade, they have to be dressed to represent their country. We are hoping to see you here!
