LRSD Strategic Plan Update to Board

After a year of listening to our students, staff, family members, School Board, and community, LRSD, in partnership with Greenway Strategies Group, has developed a Strategic Plan that will allow us to reimagine LRSD and help shape the future of our district. We have identified four theme areas along with objectives where we will be focusing our action steps:

Affirming school cultures

  • Create a sense of pride, belonging, and community for the District and each school

  • Nurture student wellness

  • Productively address disruptive behavior to engage all students in learning

  • Equip families to support their student's success

Meaningful student learning experiences

  • Redesign curriculum to ensure relevance

  • Transform learning experiences to be engaging and compelling

  • Expand individualized support for student learning

Valued and equitable school options

  • Equitably and effectively distribute resources aligned to student success

  • Ensure all students have access to enriching, high-quality academic and non-academic experiences

Excellence in our talent

  • Ensure high expectations and an unbiased commitment to the success of every child regardless of race and culture

  • Support staff to grow, thrive, and adapt to the changing landscape

  • Align staffing with student needs

Within each theme and objective are initiatives broken down over three years to best focus on actionable steps we can take as a district to accomplish our goals.

What's a Strategic Plan - Why Are We Doing It?

A strategic plan is a crucial part of an organization's ongoing efforts for improvement, guiding its direction through a review of its current standing and envisioning future goals. This plan will be developed by collecting feedback from school district staff,  students, families, and community members via in-person and online listening sessions and includes several key elements:

  • Clear and detailed statements outlining the desired outcomes for students, staff, families, the community, and the district.

  • Specific actions outlining the steps taken to achieve objectives.

  • Data collection and analysis methods to evaluate progress.

  • Established standards that serve as benchmarks to measure progress toward reaching goals.

Previous Strategic Planning Meetings

During phase one of this effort, LRSD has presented information about the Strategic Planning process to several organizations and conducted multiple community engagement sessions:

  • Community Cafes at local schools– parents, staff, students, and community members

  • Chamber of Commerce – business leaders and community stakeholders Civic and Faith-based Organizations

  •  Parent-Teacher Association Groups

  •  Student Groups at all District high schools and some elementary and middle school sites
