Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an approach to teaching and supporting appropriate behaviors and meeting the needs of ALL students. Research shows that more effective learning occurs in environments where expected behaviors are taught and acknowledged. The PBIS schoolwide approach focuses on building safe and positive environments where all students can learn.  

Please partner with us and practice the following expectations with your child daily:

 Focus Area: Classroom 

1. I am Safe when I keep my hands, feet, and objects to myself.

2. I am Thoughtful when I encourage others with positive comments.

3. I am Accountable when I follow directions the first time given.

4. I am Respectful when I listen to others speaking.

Focus Area: Hallway

1. We are Safe when we travel on the right side of the hallway, arm's length from the wall (facing forward).

2. We are Thoughtful when we smile at others when they walk by instead of using our voices.

3. We are Accountable when we walk in a traveling position with our hands at our sides.

4. We are Respectful when we travel using a Voice Level 0.

Financial Literacy

Parent(s)/Guardian(s) can set up a First Security savings account for their children. Students can make monthly deposits on Bank Day at Stephens Elementary. This responsibility can teach them financial responsibility and provide for their future needs. It's a great way to instill good money management habits at a young age. If you are interested in this opportunity, please request an application in the front office.

 School Wide Incentives

Financial Literacy is crucial for students to set goals and navigate their personal finances effectively. At Stephens Elementary, we take pride in teaching our students about banking concepts.

 Our scholars are doing an outstanding job with earning up to $1.00 per day for demonstrating safe, thoughtful, accountable, and respectful behavior. Students can choose to save their money or buy goods and services in the Starcade.  

Our scholars do an excellent job of integrating the curriculum while working in their leadership roles at the PBIS Bank, Starcade, and Stephens Elementary's Sponsored Events as School Ambassadors, Sales Associates, Cashiers, Game Masters, Safety Patrol Officers, Security Officers, Bank Tellers, Bank Managers, Marketing Specialists, Food Pantry Associates, and Motivational Speakers. Our mission is to prepare Safe, Thoughtful, Accountable, and Respectful lifelong learners while ensuring high levels of learning for all.
