PVMS Dance

The PVMS dance course is a traditional dance program that primarily focuses on Ballet and Jazz instruction. However, we explore all genres of dance including Hip-Hop, Contemporary, and Tap. Our focus is on building the proper technique while fostering leadership, self-discipline, creativity, and teamwork skills. We participate in dance studies that help us understand the elements of movement and choreography which also allows us to apply the technique we are learning. We also participate in conditioning routines to build strength, flexibility, and stamina. We end our year with an exciting Recital that allows us to showcase all we have learned throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a required uniform? Yes. Female students are expected to have the traditional dance uniform of black leotard, skin tone tights, ballet pink ballet shoes, and black jazz shoes. Male students are expected to have black pants (stretchy), a plain white T-Shirt, and black Jazz shoes.

Does it cost money? Yes. Unfortunately, the program does not have the funds available to provide the required uniform for every student. In addition to the required daily uniform, students also have an annual recital fee to help pay for costumes for recital and other performances.

Do I have to perform? Yes, all dance students are required to participate in at least one performance throughout the year. The more advanced classes participate in more performances.

What do we learn? We focus on the traditional dance arts of Ballet and Jazz. As a preparatory program for students interested in auditioning for Parkview's Dance Department, we strive to provide the technically knowledge students need to succeed. We also explore other dance genres including, but not limited to, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Modern, and Tap.
