Arsenal

School no longer in operation
Building no longer exists

Arsenal was built about 1880 and was first listed in district annual reports under Sherman School (possibly as a sub-school). In later years it was listed separately. Arsenal was a grammar and primary school for African-American children. It is unknown exactly what year this school closed. Mrs. Marietta G. Ish, wife of Jefferson G. Ish, was principal of this school in 1893.
