Author visits Roberts Elementary

Darcy Pattison, author of The Journey of Oliver K. Woodman and Searching for Oliver K. Woodman, visited Roberts Elementary on March 3 for Read Across America Week. Mrs. Pattison spoke to 1st through 5th grade students about her books and what it takes to have a book published. She also shared with the students how she finds ideas for her writing.

Students had been participating in an author study of Mrs. Pattison's books, and her visit to the school was the perfect culminating event for the study! Mrs. Pattison even held a writer's workshop for some of Roberts's aspiring authors where students could learn about the process of writing, revising and actually publising a book.
